You gotta dress in layers

When the weather outside is frightful, the fire may be delightful, but when you have to go outside you need to dress in layers. Even inside layers may be necessary.

I was talking to a few of the younger employees the other day while I was putting my layers on to leave for the day. I told them that back in the day I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a hat when it was cold outside. No scarf either.

These days when I prepare to venture out, it's hooded sweatshirt, coat, scarf, ear warmer or headband whichever you prefer to call it. Then for good measure the hood on my sweatshirt will go up

When it's cold outside, I could care less what I look like. Just give me enough layers that I don't freeze anything off

I find that the older I get, the more I prefer comfort over fashion. When I was younger, of course I would suffer for beauty. No more! I don't even wear makeup anymore, except for a bit of lipstick for gatherings. I love this beautiful portrait of you!!

I am with you and Ginny, comfort over looks, and if i were in your kind of cold weather i would not be able to walk for the layers. i love the earwarmer head and, where did you get it? my friend in Savannah would like it...
the one thing i still do is wear makeup. i don't leave home with out it. but it is light and takes me 3 minutes to do it. covers the brown and red spots. my niece in PA asked me what i use on my face because my skin always looks so pretty. i told her it is make up... i would never post a pic of my face without it... i like this edit, was this in PS

That is a great portrait of you. I wear layers and layers when I go out in this cold. And it does keep warmer. You have a fantastic day.

Love the shot and edit! Reminds me of the Girl with the Pearl Earring!
It's been in the single digits here in Waco, TX! Lots of wrecks and nitwits who have never seen snow and ice!
Stay ward girl!

Make sure you pee BEFORE the layers go on!

That is a great photo! I don’t even own a winter coat but thankfully by Monday temps start to go back to normal (mid-40’s).

I'm with you on this one. Ones head is most important in cold weather. Cover that head and layer.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Oh I've been doing the layering thing for years too, Ann. And I'm with you...I went to Walmart the other day in my sweats (mens so they're long enough), boots, my long parka (with a hood), a hat and gloves and boots!! Stay warm and hunker down...:)JP

A few years ago, I wouldn't wear any of the things I wear now! I was always so hot natured that having all those layers would probably have caused me to combust! Now days, though, I find that I like neither cold or hot weather so I dress appropriately in each season..including all those layers that I wouldn't have worn back in the day!

Grace & Peace,
Pam

I have succumbed to wearing a hat...and I am unbelievably WARM! What was I thinking all these years? Oh yeah...what will my hair look like. I guess, if I am not going to work or on a hot date, I don't care. And the hats are so cute, I keep them on inside if I am running errands and such.

Stay warm! It's crazy cold!

Ann, this reminds me of something someone sent me on Facebook. It is snarky but I had to laugh a little "due to the weather, Walmart shoppers must wear two pairs of pajama pants." That's enough for me today, I sure you wish I would just go away...maybe Walmart.
